Coolabah Tree

Burke & Wills fans will be keen to visit the historical Coolabah Tree in Hughenden. This significant tree can be linked to two relief expeditions in the search for Burke and Wills. It was common for explorers to mark their passage across the land by blazing trees. This was not a random or wantonly destructive exercise, rather the blazing precisely identified the routes they took and the points where they made observations. You can find the Coolabah Tree on the banks of what is now Station Creek on the way to Hughenden Showground.
