Croydon General Store

Call into Queensland's oldest store, built in 1894 and it will feel like you have stepped back in time.  The interior has remained unchanged from its original design.  It's part actual working grocery store and part museum complete with wooden floorboards and historical curios. As well as groceries, dining on the verandah, take-away food, home-made treats, fuel, tyres and souvenirs are available.  See the store as part of Croydon's Heritage Precinct comprising the police sergeant’s residence, police station, court house and shire hall, which are open to tourists year-round.  The main streets are lit with replica gas lights and have sandstone kerbing dating from the gold rush.
